Red Hat Creates JBoss Stack

The new stack comes with the JBoss Application Server, JBoss Hibernate

Red Hat has integrated JBoss, which it acquired 90 days ago, into Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and put the resulting Red Hat Application Stack (RHAS) up for sale as a new subscription possibility.

The new stack comes with the JBoss Application Server, JBoss Hibernate, the object/relational mapper, and either the MySQL or PostgreSQL open source database along with support, updates and upgrades delivered over the Red Hat Network.

It can be used to run both LAMP and Java applications.

RHAS subscriptions start at $1,999 a year for the Basic two-way support model, $5,499 for the four-way Standard and $8,499 the four-way Premium.

The company said it would combine open source technologies into vertical stacks for such as the telecommunications and healthcare industries in the future.

Red Hat has also made JBoss Enterprise middleware subscriptions, including RHAS, available to global distributors.
