Aptana, Inc., a provider of open source tools and services for Web application development and management, today announced the completion of a round of financing led by Rembrandt Venture Partners and includes initial investor Accel Partners.

"Aptana recently surpassed 4 million downloads of Aptana Studio, the leading open source IDE for web application development. This investment now provides us with the horsepower required to leverage this growing developer community by bringing them compelling web application platform services for the Cloud," said Paul Colton, founder and CEO of Aptana.

Aptana launched the first version of their Aptana Cloud service in late 2008. This service provides a complete end-to-end solution for deploying, scaling, staging, managing and monitoring Web applications. With a few clicks you can deploy to scalable open source application platforms including: Ruby on Rails, PHP, MySQL, and Apache. Scaling is as easy as moving a slider control to the level of computational power and data storage you desire. Even during development, long before you deploy a production application, you can get value from Aptana Cloud's hosted source control (SVN or Git), staging environments, remote edit and preview capabilities, database tools, server logs, tail views and loads of other features supporting development cycles. Team management features automate adding and removing team members and controlling their entitlements across all systems. And for the ultimate in ease, all features are integrated right into Aptana Studio which can also plug into other Eclipse-based tools.

"Rembrandt is delighted to be investors in Aptana and we are excited about the Company's tremendous traction with developers. We believe the Company is now poised to capitalize on their nearly 4 million downloads of Studio by giving developers the ability to 'click and deploy' their applications to the cloud computing environment," said Douglas Schrier, General Partner at Rembrandt Ventures.

"Aptana Cloud helped us deploy our application faster than expected," said Shawn Jonnet, Chief Software Architect and Co-founder, of King Pearl LLC, a technology consulting company specializing in health-care. "We had a fully scalable application up and running within minutes, instead of hours or days."

This new investment will enable Aptana to take its Aptana Cloud platform to the next level in terms of features, capabilities, and scale. Support for additional Cloud providers will also be added. Visit www.aptana.com to learn more about Aptana Studio and Aptana Cloud.
